Take a trip back in time to the dawn of the age of the automobile, before our country's massive interstate highway system existed as we know it today. The Dixie Highway stretching from the Great Lakes to Miami was one of the country's first efforts to improve automobile travel on a large scale. As it did in its heyday, the route links communities that are proud of their shared heritage, and we celebrate the history of this stretch of road with our annual rally Drivin' the Dixie.

Beginning in Momence, this leisurely drive winds its way north to Blue Island, stopping in several communities along the way for special activities and events. Upon registration, you'll receive a packet of maps with specific instructions on the route, along with other points of interest and landmarks that you'll pass along the way. You can also find your maps and other details digitally on this website.

At the end of your drive, a celebration with food, drinks, music, and a vintage base ball game will greet you on Blue Island's Gas Works Grounds.
