On September 28th- 30th, the streets of downtown Mt. Vernon will be flooded with excitement as Fall Fest returns once again to Mt. Vernon, IL! Head to 9th St. and the surrounding downtown area for a weekend packed with entertainment, fair food, an annual parade, contests, craft vendors, and other fun fall festivities!

The weekend will feature a free kids zone with inflatables, laser tag, petting zoo, obstacle course and more! A wide selection of art, craft, resale, vintage, repurposed, and informational vendor booths will be open for shopping all weekend long. Food concessions include all your favorite delicious fair food items like kettle corn, sno cones, bbq, corn dogs, tacos, funnel cakes, and more! Stop by the beer and wine tent for a selection of adult beverages.

Fall Fest entertainment kicks off at 5 p.m., Friday September 28th, with _________ At 8 p.m., ____________ will take the stage.

Saturday is packed full of activities for all ages starting with the 3rd Annual 5k for Special Olympics at 8 a.m. The schedule includes a 5K run at 8:00 a.m., 5K walk at 8:01 a.m. and a Kid's Fun Run beginning at 9:15 a.m. Participants can register online at www.********.***. All proceeds from the race will benefit Jefferson County Special Olympics and is sponsored by Featherstun for State's Attorney. Registration packets can be picked up from 5:30- 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 28th or from 7:00- 7:45 a.m. Saturday, September 29th at Fall Fest. The Downtown Mt. Vernon Cruise-In car show will be held from 9:30 a.m.- 2 p.m. and includes dancing entertainment from Corner Dance Hall.

The 100+ entry annual parade will begin at 10 a.m. and include a marching band expo of several area middle and high schools. This year's theme, "Illinois Proud", will focus on the state's bicentennial. 2018 is Illinois' 200th birthday and Mt. Vernon's Fall Fest will participate as an official bicentennial event for the state. Participants can build floats, decorate trailers, trucks & automobiles, gather families and friends, and even develop impressive marching band routines all to the theme "Illinois Proud" to celebrate the state we live in!
