Description:

From Three Rivers Festival Website:

From a community meeting in 1989 to this year's event, the Three Rivers Festival has generated over $900,000 for community programs and services in the Channahon area.

These dollars come from the generous support of our corporate sponsors (listed on the back of this schedule) and those attending the Festival. Money raised is directly reinvested in the community, with the majority of the proceeds equally received by the Festival's sponsoring organizations: Channahon Pony Baseball, Channahon Lions Club, Channahon Fire Department, and Chanooka Braves Youth Football. Members of these groups make up the majority of the Festival Committee. They are joined by other community members with everyone volunteering their time to plan and put on the event.

This year the Three Rivers Festival pays tribute to our area youth sports programs. Some have been around quite some time including the Channahon Baseball League which has been in existence since 1964, the Channahon Park District since 1971 and the Chanooka Braves since 1976.

Sports programs offer numerous benefits for youth. Allowing children to participate in youth sports is a fantastic way for children to explore and develop lifelong skills. Youth sports not only play an important role in exercise, but promotes mental and psychological advances as well. It is well-known that children who participate in sports are less likely to drop out of school, and become involved in drugs and alcohol activity, while they also excel in academic performances and sociability. In addition we salute parents, volunteers, and coaches who take the time to get involved in our area youth sports programs.
