Decatur's Smokin' BBQ Festival, founded by LaVell Peete in August of 2015, is a Kansas City BBQ sanctioned event scheduled for October 6-7, 2017 in Decatur, IL. The non-for-profit organization has a mission "to bring people together to enjoy a culinary experience and fundraiser for the Selma (Knox) Peete Scholarship for students to attend the Richland Community College Culinary Program". After expenses are paid, all remaining funds will go towards the Scholarship.
