Since 1968, the Apple N' Pork Festival with its delightful aroma of smoked ham and spicy apple butter, has ushered in autumn for Dewitt County. From its beginning as a modest event, centered around a kettle of soup and stack of sandwiches, the festival has grown to one of the state's favorite fall festivals.

Sponsored by the Dewitt County Museum Association and held on the grounds of the C. H. Moore Homestead, the festival has provided the funds necessary to restore and maintain the large, Victorian-era house, barn and to erect the farm museum. The Apple 'n Pork Festival has over 300 dealers in the flea market. There is an old-time crafting area featuring 19th century crafters demonstrating their dexterity and selling traditional crafted items.

Free entertainment such as country bands to a Civil War Band, strolling musicians, face painting, and pony rides for little kids has been apart of the festival for many years. The festival's food area features an endless array of choices of harvest-time foods. Enjoy apple cider floats the apple fritters, corn on the cob, grilled bratwurst, butterfly pork sandwiches, river rat potatoes, and ever popular ham sandwiches. The main attractions continue to be the ham and bean stand, selling over 6,000 servings; a bench and table area under a tent is set up for dining.
